Dave Mustaine: The System Has Failed

Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine has always been a bit controversial
For the Megadeth fans out there, you'll recognise the title of the blog post as being the name of their tenth studio album (which was a belter of a record as well). But in light of recent comments from frontman Dave Mustaine, it's more an recognition that perhaps the ginger-haired, fret-shredding metal legend has finally gone off the deep end.

Check out the 'rant' below

During a gig in Singapore, Mustaine accused the United States President, Barack Obama, of 'staging' the tragic shootings in Aurora last month, in which James Holmes opened fire in a cinema complex in the quiet Colorado town, killing 12 people and wounding 58, in order to pass a gun ban. Obama was also prime suspect for the similiar 'staging' of the Sikh temple shootings in Wisconsin, where Wade Michael Page took the lives of six people, injured others and took his own life before he could be apprehended.

Now, I'm a huge fan of Dave Mustaine as a talent and a huge fan of the band (my quarrel isn't with them), but surely Dave was just a little out of line with those comments? They were the rambling claims of conspiracy that somebody like Jesse 'the Body' Ventura would no doubt endorse. It has been no secret that Dave is 'switched-on' to American politics and takes a great deal of interest in the way that his country is governed. His anti-Obama stance has been made very clear on more than one occasion but this time may just have taken the proverbial biscuit.

To think that the President of the United States of America would orchestrate two events that can be only described as tradegies and massacres is a bit far-fetched, even for the controversial frontman. To feed the notion that his country is becoming like a Nazi state is ridiculous. Surely Dave must see that these were isolated incidents, not aided in any way by the American gun laws as they currently stand. These types of grisly events have a terrible habit of reappearing through time and everytime they do, the finger of blame is pointed back at government and conspiracy runs rampant.

Are scenes like this down to a conspiracy rooted in US government?

I think it shows what fear, paranoia and extremism can do to the ordinary, average citizen. I believe that even though rockstars, like many other celebrities, have immense power and influence over the masses due to their inspirational, iconic statuses, they should stick to playing the music that they're amazingly good at playing and leave the politics and the conspiracies, the war-of-words and all the other crap that comes with 'standing up against government', to those who don't have anything better to do.

It was interesting as well to notice that in subsequent interviews, Mustaine has attempted to clear up his on-stage rant. He mentioned that when he said 'Obama', he infact means the administration. That means there's 'rogue' members of one of the most powerful countries in the world. Just check the video of the response to the comments on the Alex Jones-led (and he's something else as well) InfoWars.com Nightly News video:

What do you think about Dave Mustaine's claims? Do his words have merit and is Obama really staging vicious shootings in order to sway public opinion his way for a gun ban? Or is Dave getting embroiled in something way bigger than him and should he stay out?
